Cookie policy

What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We also use the browser's local storage (localStorage) for a few preferences; this policy treats it the same way as cookies.

What we use and why

falcondatabase does not use advertising, analytics or third-party cookies. If the administrator enables it, visits to the public pages are measured with our own cookie-free analytics (see below). We only use what the site needs to work and to remember your preferences:

NameTypePurposeDuration
sessionidEssentialKeeps you signed in to the dashboard.2 weeks
csrftokenEssentialProtects forms against CSRF attacks.1 year
falcondb_cookie_consentEssentialStores your choice in the cookie notice.1 year
django_languagePreferenceRemembers the language you chose.Until you close the browser
falcondb-theme (localStorage)PreferenceRemembers whether you prefer light or dark mode.Until you clear it

The apps you build with falcondatabase

If you use the falcondb.js SDK in your own apps, it stores your users' session in localStorage under the key falcondb.<ref>.session. As the owner of your app, you should mention it in your own cookie policy.

The analytics script

The web analytics script you can add to your sites (/a.js) uses no cookies or local storage and doesn't store IP addresses. Each visitor is counted with an anonymous id that changes every day and can't be reversed.

Your choice

Essential cookies are required to sign in and keep the site secure, so they are used even if you choose "Only essential". If we ever add optional cookies (for example analytics), they will only be enabled if you click "Accept".

You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the essential ones, you won't be able to sign in.
